Lost Your Momentum In Your Christian Walk?

Living a consistent life for Jesus is our goal as Christians. Our lives should demonstrate God’s love for all people. This translates into a lifestyle that expresses God’s love, kindness, mercy, forgiveness, compassion and many other wonderful attributes of God.

Expressing God’s love for others pleases God and brings Him glory. This is what our existence on this earth is really about. It is God’s plan that His people show the world around them who He is and what He is like. Your lifestyle introduces those who are not yet believers to God and His love.

So, you have a role in God’s plan to bring the gospel of salvation to your family, friends, acquaintances and all others who you observe your life.

However, there are times when our passion for following Jesus wanes and we find ourselves in a place not so close to God. We wander because we let our guard down and begin to act like we did before we came to Christ. Instead of being “all in” for Jesus, we have one foot in and the other foot out.

Of course, God convicts us of this kind of disloyal behavior. Have you ever been there?

God gives us a solution for this problem.

“So be subject to God. Stand firm against the devil; resist him and he will flee from you. Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts  [of spiritual adultery].” James 4:7-8 AMPL

Before you can solve a problem, you must identify the problem. The problem with believers who have lost their momentum in following Jesus is that they are not being “subject to God.” Instead of listening to the direction of the Holy Spirit and yielding to His voice, they resist God’s way and go their own way.

This is exactly the wrong way to go. Instead of resisting the Spirit of God, you need to resist the spirit of the devil. Resist the desires and cravings that are part of your flawed human nature. Man-up! “Resist the devil and he will flee from you!”

Then move closer to God. How do you do this?

God says that the way back to a vibrant walk with Him is to come to grips with your sin. Admit that you have sinned and confess your sins to God and repent of your sin. When a person truly repents of his or her sin, there is real remorse and sorrow.

God’s response is forgiveness and your heart is once again pure.

This is the way to regain your momentum in serving Jesus and showing the world what God’s love looks like!

You will find that your life will be more fulfilling and meaningful. Why? Because this is your purpose; to bring glory to God! This is what you were made for!

Have a great day!

God bless you!
