Let God Help You Get Through The Tough Times

Life is a mix of some good things and some not so good things. Wouldn’t you agree? This combination of good and bad is always in a state of flux and it is always changing. There will always be a part of your life that is good and a part that is not so good.

How do you deal with this reality?

Along with this swing between periods of good stuff and bad stuff is a parallel swing between being content and happy and being discontented and unhappy. There are many emotions that incrementally separate happiness and sadness, but they are all tied to the realities of your life. Unfortunately, life shows no mercy, and continues on with these uncontrollable and unpredictable swings between good periods and not-so-good periods.

But, the question is, “does your happiness HAVE to be connected to these inevitable swings of good and bad in your life?” Can people be happy in spite of the downside of life? Can there be a consistent happiness and even joy about life even with all the “bad stuff” that goes on?

Consider what God says in the book of Psalm.

“Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces… Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” Psalm 34:5,8 NLT

God has a way different view of life in this world, and how to deal with the issues we all face. He doesn’t accept that the down periods of your life should necessarily be paralleled with unhappiness because of your life circumstance.

He says that if you seek Him out for help, He will help you and replace your discontent and sadness with contentment and happiness. He doesn’t want you to have sad faces or broken spirits.

God encourages you to “taste and see that the Lord is good!” He urges each of you to take refuge in Him!

So, if you are struggling with “one of those days”, I encourage you to seek help from your Heavenly Father. He tells you that He will be your refuge in times of difficulty. He will restore your happiness, even in the midst of the worst storm!

Talk to God. He’ll listen!

Have a great day!
