How to Gain God’s Wisdom

Wisdom is a very useful asset to any person facing any circumstance, in any place and at any time. In this world, smart people strive to become “wise.” They seek wisdom through the dedicated mentoring of loving parents and the training of talented teachers in school, and life experience itself is a great way to be taught wisdom. There is a human wisdom that serves us well, and can be acquired if you really seek it. Human wisdom is a valuable asset.

But, what about God’s wisdom? Certainly if man can be wise in his own ways, then God’s wisdom must be far superior, right? So, how do you gain God’s wisdom? There are times when the limits of human wisdom become painfully obvious and a higher level of wisdom is necessary. For Christians, this is a slam dunk, if they are properly prepared to receive God’s deep, hidden wisdom.

In 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 God gives His children a roadmap to finding His wisdom. He gives them instructions on how to find the ultimate, wisest of wise, wisdom available.

  • God’s wisdom is for the mature in Christ. This means that God makes His wisdom available to those who take their walk with God seriously. These are the believers who live out their salvation and make the things of God their priority. They do their best to think like Jesus, speak like Jesus and act like Jesus. These are the people who God makes His divine wisdom available to. (2:6)
  • God has a secret wisdom that is buried deep within Him and hidden from all but those who are mature believers. (2:7-10)
  • This hidden wisdom is revealed to the mature believer by the Holy Spirit, who reveals God’s wisdom and words of truth that can be understood. (11-14)
  • This wisdom from God enables the believer to make judgments about all things, yet he himself is above being judged by this world. (15-16)

This is what the mind of Christ is. God’s wisdom is found in the mind of Christ.

So, are you stuck in a place and don’t know where to turn? Does your best human wisdom fall short, along with the wisdom of your family, friends, educators, experts, Oprah or maybe even Dr. Phil?

Could it be that YOU are the problem? Are you hold back and living a “double-life”, with one foot in the church and the other in the world? Is there hidden sin in your life that puts God off? Are you where you should be with the Lord? The good news is that God will tell you if there is something wrong, and he will make it clear what you have to change.

If you are mature in your faith, then ask God for the wisdom you need to solve your problem. It’s a done deal. (See Colossians 3:15)

If you know in your heart that the reason you do not have God’s wisdom is because you are out of step with God, then do something about it. Make the changes that will bring the maturity you need to receive God’s wisdom.

Listen to what Jesus said.

“In a word, what I am saying is Grow Up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.” Matthew 5:48 MSG

Have a great day!

God bless!
