What is the world is going on? There are many good reasons to be concerned, nervous and even fearful these days. The world is changing, and not in a good way. The world is getting more unstable and more volatile day by day for a host of reasons.
Yes, there is much to be fearful about.
As a believer, our faith in God is really tested as we see these realities played out before our eyes. It’s scary. But let us not lose confidence in our Lord and Savior. Our hope is in Him, not the “people in charge”. Consider this famous Psalm.
Psalm 23 NKJV “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His names sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death , I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever.”
We live in a time of great uncertainty and danger and the normal reaction to all of these things is fear. When faced with these kinds of challenges, what should we do? Where can we go to regain our sense of stability, confidence and comfort?
God has given us Psalm 23 for this very purpose. In this Psalm we see that we have a loving Shepherd who is continually watching over each of us, even when we are not aware of it. That’s reassuring, isn’t it?
Our Shepherd knows our need and takes care of it. He carefully leads us to green pastures and still waters. His provision can be counted on. His loving presence and tender embrace bring the comfort and confidence we so desperately need.
In spite of the real challenges we live with today, we are empowered to live like Jesus and for Jesus and bring glory to our Heavenly Father. We can walk on the path of righteousness, right through the valley that casts shadows of death that this world has become. We need not fear the evil that is taking over this world because we have a Shepherd who has us in the cleft of His hand. We are in good hands.
Our Shepherd is God and He pours His very Spirit out on us and immerses us in it. There is nothing to fear.
God’s overwhelming goodness and mercy are with us every hour, minute and second of every day. And this immersion of God’s goodness and mercy will last forever!
We live in a very uncertain and dangerous time. But, as a child of God there is assurance, confidence, stability and comfort in the fact that God is totally with us and because of that, we need not fear anything!
Praise God, today! Thank Him for his unending love for you!
Rest in Him today!
