Jesus gets it. Jesus puts His finger on the problem that all people who are serious about their faith in Jesus have.
When a person truly believes in Jesus and completely turns his or her life over to Jesus, and makes a commitment to live out their faith in Jesus, there will be trouble. It is inevitable.
God says that His ways are not man’s ways. His ways are in opposition to man’s ways, as are man’s ways opposed to God’s ways. This is the source of the conflict between man and God.
This opposition is not merely a “difference of opinion”, but ultimately it is a life and death struggle.
God’s stated desire is to put sin to death, and He did so when Jesus died on the cross and then was resurrected from the dead. This is why the world hates Jesus and His followers.
As Christians, you have the power to defeat sin in your own lives and life righteous lives because of what happened on the cross. Your righteous living represents the way Jesus lived, and this is an offense to those who love their sin.
The opposition to the Spirit of Jesus that is seen in His followers has reached a new crescendo. The intensity of the noise of hatred toward Jesus is deafening.
As believers in America, we are witnessing things that we never thought we would ever see. Who would have ever thought that gay marriage would become the law of the land? Those who oppose God’s ways are celebrating a great victory. But, this is just another step in “putting to death” as many of God’s holy standards as possible.
Traditional marriage has been under attack for years. In the sixties, the argument was “Who needs a marriage license to be committed to each other?” “Who needs a ceremony before God to affirm our marriage?”
The irony is that a marriage license is nonsense when it comes to a man and woman being married, yet these very same people want that marriage license that says they are legally married! Go figure.
What is happening in our nation today is impacting millions of Christians. The anger and hostility toward God’s people is increasing. Those who hate Jesus are becoming more bold and aggressive. And it is God’s people who are the targets.
Believers are painted as intolerant and ignorant haters who are a serious danger and threat to civilized society and should be stifled and punished for their beliefs.
Matthew 5:11-12 NIV (Jesus said) “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
It is very disheartening to see these things happening in our beloved country, but nonetheless, it is what is happening.
There will be more insults, lies about God’s people and more persecution, even here in America. How I wish it were not happening, but the insults, lies, cultural pressure and persecution are only going to grow more intense.
But, Jesus said that there is something that outweighs the terrible things His people are going through. There is a reward waiting for His people that is so great that these abuses will seem meaningless!
So, remain faithful, even in the midst of insults, lies and persecution. There is coming a day when God’s children will be embraced by Jesus and He will say, “Well done good and faithful servant!”
This is what we look forward to!
So, be strong and look past the present to what is waiting for you in the future!
God bless you all!
