Do You Ever Feel Distant From God?

As a Christian have you ever felt like you are on your own? Do you ever feel like God is far away and disinterested in the details of your life? Do you ever feel like there is really no plan for your life but you are just living out a boring day to day routine with no particular direction? As a Christian what does God advise to counter these feelings?

Psalm 37:23-24 NLT The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble… the Lord holds them by the hand.

God’s answer to these kinds of feelings is to be “godly.”  He says that the Lord “directs the steps of the godly”, “delights in the details of the lives of the godly”, and the Lord holds the “godly by the hand to help them up when they stumble.”

So being “godly” is a key factor in God’s actual involvements in your life. What does that mean?

The word “godly” actually means, “piety, holiness, and the gospel scheme.” Godliness is God’s careful and systematic program of action for making the gospel known to the world.  A godly person is one who lives out their faith in God by living by His ways, His standards and His principles. It is holy living. The world can see a picture of who God is by your godly habits. Living by a godly set of standards sets you apart from those who live by their own standards. As a believer draws closer to God by being “godly”, God draws closer to them.

God’s close and attentive care is seen in His involvement in your everyday life. You are not aimless as you live life, but He is with you “directing your steps.” You are not alone in dealing with the challenges of your life, but He is “delighted to be involved in every detail of your life.” And when you stumble, “your Heavenly Father is there holding your hand” so your fall isn’t so bad, and so He can help you up.

If you are one of God’s children who is feeling alone and in a life routine that is going nowhere, then refocus on God, and strive to live out your faith. So, Reflect, Recommit, Renew and be Recharged!

Have a great day!

God bless you!
